You can then assign a UV map in your favorite 3D application before generating high resolution textures and layers with SCAN2FX Texture. SCAN2FX Texture offers advanced texturing options to generate specific masks for each scan (e.g. scan bottoms, distance from scanner, or occluded areas) that can be utilized to fix up or otherwise modify textures with 3rd party paint software. SCAN2FX Texture also offers the ability to highlight occluded areas where no scan image data was available with a specific color to more easily paint in additional texture detail later on. SCAN2FX Texture can generate textures at varying resolutions and can generate edge padding if required to avoid edge artifacts. SCAN2FX Texture generates an overall texture automatically, but can also generate extra texture layers with the projection from each scan separately to help paint in areas from a particular scan where desired. SCAN2FX Texture is an add-on application for FARO SCENE and requires FARO SCENE 7.0 or higher. SCAN2FX Texture will utilize the full panorama images allowing to texture meshes even where no 3D point cloud was captured (backgrounds, windows, water, etc.). The SCAN2FX Exporter for Maya allows users to export your SCENE panorama scans as projection cameras and shaders into Maya, enabling a unique and efficient workflow for 3D painting and texturing. Features: • Quickly turn the SCENE scan projects into a Maya project for texturing and mesh fixing. • Utilize the projection cameras, image backplanes, and materials generated by SCAN2FX to texture a mesh (for example exported as OBJ from SCENE into Maya). • Paint the texture from different scanned panoramas onto the mesh through Maya’s 3D painting toolset. • Control how textures get applied and blend textures from different scans for seamless transitions e.g. when using different exposures, by utilizing the different layers SCAN2FX Exporter can generate. • Fill in gaps where no texture exists by painting onto the color channel with a clone brush through Maya’s 3D Paint toolset. • Fill holes or re-topologize the mesh in Maya, while projecting panorama scans in real-time onto your mesh. This tutorial shows how to 3D align a panorama with SCAN2FX Photo Projector. SCAN2FX Photo Projector provides a unique way to easily align 2D photos and panoramas with a 3D scene for additional texture detail where and as needed. Computed cameras can also be used as accurate reference image back planes for 3D modelling tasks. The SCAN2FX Photo Projector module allows users to estimate the camera position from where a photo or panorama was taken within the context of a 3D scene loaded in SCENE. The resulting “photo projector” / camera can be exported with one of the optional SCAN2FX Exporter modules to enable the projection of the photos onto your 3D models as textures or for image-based modeling. SCAN2FX Photo Projector is an add-on application for FARO SCENE and requires FARO SCENE 7.0 or higher. Features: - Pick corresponding points between the 2D photo or panorama, and the 3D point cloud in a 3D view. - Provide camera parameters such as focal length, and sensor size to compute the 3D camera pose. - See the estimated camera position from where the photo was taken within the context of the 3D scene. - Store the computed SCAN2FX “photo projectors” as part of your SCENE project file. - Add additional projectors, delete points or projectors, select and move 2D or 3D points, and see live updates of the estimated camera position. This tutorial explains how to survey a planar point cloud surface to create a simplified mesh with SCAN2FX Mesh Modeler. The tutorial also showcases the extrusion tool to extrude the resulting polygon. SCAN2FX Mesh Modeler can export the resulting mesh structures straight as OBJ mesh, or alternatively a native Maya MA file (with the optional SCAN2FX Exporter for Maya). SCAN2FX Mesh Modeler enables users to create polygons directly on top of the point cloud to fill holes in meshes or to create a simpler representation of part of a 3D scene. To texture a mesh, you will need to setup a UV map that defines the mapping between texture pixels and the mesh. You can for example do this straight in Autodesk Maya by creating an automatic texture projection. You could also further tweak the UV map by hand to control the level of image detail allocated to each part of your mesh. Many other 3D modelling applications have similar UV "unwrapping" capabilities. Important: Make sure to not move or rotate the mesh when applying the UV map and then re-exporting it for processing in SCAN2FX Texture. Also make sure the UV map contains no overlap. Computed cameras can also be used as accurate reference image back planes for 3D modelling tasks. The SCAN2FX Photo Projector module allows users to estimate the camera position from where a photo or panorama was taken within the context of a 3D scene loaded in SCENE. The resulting “photo projector” / camera can be exported with one of the optional SCAN2FX Exporter modules to enable the projection of the photos onto your 3D models as textures or for image-based modeling. SCAN2FX Photo Projector is an add-on application for FARO SCENE and requires FARO SCENE 7.0 or higher. Features: - Pick corresponding points between the 2D photo or panorama, and the 3D point cloud in a 3D view. - Provide camera parameters such as focal length, and sensor size to compute the 3D camera pose. - See the estimated camera position from where the photo was taken within the context of the 3D scene. - Store the computed SCAN2FX “photo projectors” as part of your SCENE project file. - Add additional projectors, delete points or projectors, select and move 2D or 3D points, and see live updates of the estimated camera position.
