QuickEdit: Edit any mesh, right from Unity 3D!

03:33
www.sixbysevenstudio.com QuickEdit allows you to edit any mesh (and it's UVs!) right within Unity 3D. This is an amazingly useful tool, and has greatly improved my workflow, as it will for you! Better yet, QuickEdit adds full "instancing" support to your meshes. This means you can edit the mesh once, and all other objects sharing the same mesh will update to match, in real time. Alternatively, you can edit the mesh as a copy, and it won't change any others. Say you want to make several slightly different versions of a building, weapon, or character- QuickEdit lets you do this in seconds, and doesn't clutter up your project folder. QuickEdit is also great for modifying mesh objects to fit just right. Boulders, trees, architectural details, walls, debris- not only can you make them all fit just right, you can add tons of diversity to your gameworld, with minimal effort. Are you using a model that came in a proprietary format (max, blender, maya, etc), and don't have the modeling program? Or maybe you aren't familiar with the program, and don't want to waste time with trial and error. With QuickEdit, just select the mesh, click, "Edit", and use Unity's own familiar tools and methods to modify the mesh however you like. Maybe, you want to see how a model would look with a slight change, but don't want to waste time bouncing between programs, importing and exporting, re-building prefabs/materials/etc. QuickEdit makes it beautifully simple to try on new looks.

How to Easily Decimate a Mesh in Cinema 4D Without Plugins

01:56
I was trying to figure out how to quickly lower the polygon count on some of my sculpted meshes and quickly found the polygon reduction deformer, but it took me a while to figure out how to actually apply it to the mesh, so that the new topology could be edited. After a while of looking through the menus, I found the current state to object option, which does exactly what I wanted it to. I hope this tutorial helps you as much as it's helped me.

Extract Google Earth models to 3ds max tutorial

06:44
I'm sure of that an option to save 3d data from Google Earth (OSM 3D or any other GIS service) will be avaliable some day but now we have to do weird things to get that data. I hope this tutorial helps someone You need: 1. 3ds max 2011 or earlier (there is no .3dr import plugin for older versions) 2. 3D Ripper DX www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm 3. GE v.6.2.2.6613 www.oldversion.com/windows/google-earth-6-2-2-6613 4. Patience (sometimes it doesn't work as it should or doesn't work at all) And don't forget - GE has to be switched in to Direct3D mode Important hints : 1. When 3D Ripper is ready you can see yellow sign "Ready to capture" and then you hit F12 (capture button by default) and nothing happens. To force capture you have to do LMB click (or click and hold) in the 3d viewport of GoogleEarth and press F12 simultaneously 2. Sometimes 3D Rippers creates only .3dr file without any .dds textures. Don't worry - just close application launched from 3D Ripper (GoogleEarth in this case), run 3D Ripper again and Launch the application (Google Earth). And you will see that textures magically appear in the capture folder. Looks like they stuck somewhere in a memory buffer and 3D Ripper relaunch force them write to disk.

Concave Collider for Unity3D

Our concave collider component enables complex mesh to mesh collisions. In Unity3D two mesh colliders can't collide unless at least one of them is marked as convex, otherwise they would just go through each other. Our Concave Collider plugin automatically computes a set of colliders that fit your concave object helping you to overcome this limitation. -Get it here: http://u3d.as/3rS -Info & Documentation: http://www.ultimategametools.com/products/concave_collider/help -Unity forum thread: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/154361-Concave-Collider-Generate-compound-colliders-with-one-click!-RELEASED Visit our webpage: http://www.ultimategametools.com Follow us on Twitter (@ugtools): https://twitter.com/ugtools Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ultimategametools

Unreal Engine 4 - Exclusive Development Video

10:46
Epic Games is formally announcing its Unreal Engine 4 technology today after the close of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the game industry's big trade show. Word about the new engine, which is the foundation for the next decade of graphics technology in video games, leaked out earlier in a story by Wired. The new engine is supposed to be a crowing achievement in video game graphics, and it certainly produces amazing images, such as those in this story. The technology could be the foundation for games which run on future high-end personal computers or next-generation consoles, such as those that Microsoft and Sony are expected to launch in the coming years. The previous generation Unreal Engine 3 came out six years ago for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It resulted in a wave of beautiful games across the industry such as Epic's own Gears of War series. Epic creates its own games but it also licenses the engine to all comers. It can thus extend its influence throughout the entire video game industry when it comes to high-quality 3D graphics and physics. The engine includes Kismet 2, a visual scripting editor. It allows artists and developers to edit their code and see the changes appear in a visual way in real-time on a flow chart and in the game itself. That could make artists far more productive than they are today, and it means they won't have to understand programming code itself in order to see what coding changes will mean for their art work. The technology can on a single Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 graphics card. That's the fastest graphics card in the world at this moment, but it is still a consumer technology that you can purchase and add to your gaming PC for about $500. The image above from Epic's 153-second Elemental demo shows that the engine can display tons of particles — a million of them — as the demon knight breathes fire out of his nose. You can see a shower of sparks and the effects of light bouncing around a scene — such as light that emerges from behind a cloud of smoke. Below, the image shows high-dynamic range, or the ability to render details in both the bright and the dark sections of a scene. The key to these 3D animations is that they are dynamic, meaning they can be changed on the fly, and they are real-time, meaning they can produce all sorts of movement and activity across the screen every instant.

ArchiCAD Tutorial | Terrain Modeling using Solid Element Operations high pagerank backlinks for

08:36
Checkout Quick Tricks for fetching Authority Quality high pagerank backlinks for internet Bulkping seo tips ArchiCAD Tutorial | Terrain Modeling using Solid Element Operations Movie seo tips - In this quick little 8 minute demonstration, I show how to work with terrain models using Solid Element Operations (SEO) and Complex Profiles to simplify, speed up and improve your construction documentation. There are some simple "tricks" in this video that may open your eyes to new possibilities! In the first project, a stem wall and footing system is modeled with a complex profile, then carved out from the terrain slab using an SEO subtraction. A crawl space is created by subtracting out a special slab from the terrain. This extra slab is on a layer that is viewed in wire-frame while working, then hidden once the operation is complete. The footing is extended wider by redefining the complex profile, with the results instantly seen in the section drawing. In a second file, the floor slab is used with an SEO "subtraction with upwards extrusion" to clear out the volume of the terrain mesh for the "slab on grade" and everything above (which includes the building shell and interior. A similar SEO is used to clear the space for the patio paving. In the final example, a path is created by drawing a slab using the magic wand to automatically trace an undulating outline created by two splines. The slab initially extends above the prevailing grade, but is cut down to match the grade using the SEO "intersect" option. The terrain mesh passes through the path slab, so it is modified by an SEO subtraction, which quickly results in a clean model. The relationship between the mesh and slab is active, so when the path boundary is moved, it still looks correct. The polygon boundary is then extended to show how this approach can be used for "color coding" different areas of the terrain for paving, planting or other uses. Please check it out and share your feedback here and also on the Facebook-style comments on the actual website page. Also, feel free to pass the word on to other users - I think this is something that many will benefit from. Enjoy! Eric Visit

Mesh Loader in Unity

02:01
Some time back a friend of mine asked me to recreate a form of mesh loader used by the Second Life client that uses images to store vertex data. I threw this together and added a few extras. * Rather than interpolating the vertex position and losing detail, it creates a mesh based on all points of the image, and only the vertices defined by the image. * The inclusion of start/end sample options for both the X and Y directions, allowing the shape to be "cut."

The network overview reporting tool in InfoWorks ICM

04:47
This tutorial shows how a comprehensive summary of the network can be displayed in the Network Overview Tool. By default, the summary displays an overview of the entire network. However, as shown in the tutorial, if there is a current selection, the summary also includes information about the selected network objects. Attention is drawn to the different pie chart information available and shows how to switch between statistics based on Pipe Length and Pipe Size. While not shown in the video tutorial, it should be noted that the Network Overview information can be printed by selecting Print... from the File menu. The print option does more than just produce an image of the window. It prints all the summary data (i.e. not just the data that is currently visible) in a series of easy to view tables.

ArchiCAD Tutorial | How to Trace 2D Drawings to Quickly Create a 3D Model

44:08
-- By Eric Bobrow, creator of The Best Practices Course (http://www.acbestpractices.com) -- This ArchiCAD tutorial (http://youtu.be/gF2xY8sOn5Y) shows how to bring in 2D drawings (in this case, DWG files) as a tracing reference to make it easy and fast to create an accurate 3D model. This approach can be used for modeling existing buildings from CAD files, or taking a design from 2D CAD into a 3D model quickly for presentations or model coordination. Many interesting topics are covered, including the creation of worksheets, importing DWG files, setting up Virtual Trace for the plan and elevations to show the corresponding 2D drawings in proper alignment to the model, and some complex manipulations of ArchiCAD library doors and windows to match the original design drawings. PROCESS OUTLINE -- Create a new project -- Import the DWG files into separate Worksheets and coordinate their origin points -- Set up the Story Levels to correspond to the project heights -- Use Virtual Trace to reference the ground floor DWG as a background while working on the ground floor plan -- Move the original MasterTemplate base slabs, elevation and section markers, and gridlines to the vicinity of the traced DWG -- Set up the wall tool for the proper thickness and height, then trace the outline of the building -- Repeat for the upper story -- Place windows in the walls using the plan DWGs as references for location and width -- Open each of the Elevation viewpoints and correspond the DWG Worksheets for trace reference -- Adjust window heights, types and glazing patterns to match the original drawings -- Repeat for the doors, first on plan, then in elevation -- Draw the first roof piece on plan by tracing over the roof outline from the original drawing -- Coordinate the height and thickness of the roof in each elevation -- Use these adjusted settings to create the rest of the roof system on the lower level, then repeat the process for the upper roofs -- Trim walls to the roofs to clean up the model -- Adjust some of the windows and doors to have arched tops with bricks above -- Review the 3D model, elevations and plans, which now correspond beautifully to the original drawings This entire process was done in 90 minutes! This 44 minute video is condensed from the original recording made in "real time" that shows every step along the way. This excerpted version leaves out some less essential details as well as much of the repetitive drawing and data entry. To be frank, the first time I did this it took between 3 and 4 hours, because I had to become familiar with the project and how the DWGs were organized. The second time it took about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, and then I started over and recorded the process the third time in 90 minutes from start to finish. I've posted both versions of the tutorial (44 minutes and the full length 90 minute version) on my website: http://www.bobrow.com/archicad-tutorials/archicad-tutorial-video-trace-2d-drawings-to-quickly-create-3d-model/ For additional free ArchiCAD tutorial articles and videos, please visit http://www.bobrow.com/archicad-tutorials/ I look forward to your comments and feedback. Solidworks Tutorial - Split

01:17
Need to create two parts with matching complex geometry? Simply think that its easier to make one solid body model and carve it up later into separate parts? You're probably right. Here's how to do it with the Split command in Solidworks. You can read some more notes about the Split command at http://solidstudent.org/solidworks-tutorials/solidworks-tutorial-split/ And if you have any questions about Solidworks that you'd like me to answer you can ask either by the website or by tweeting me at http://www.twitter.com/solidstudentuk
