"A language is a dialect with an army and navy" is a quip about the arbitrariness of the distinction between a dialect and a language. It points out the influence that social and political conditions can have over a community's perception of the status of a language or dialect. The adage was popularized by the sociolinguist and Yiddish scholar Max Weinreich, who heard it from a member of the audience at one of his lectures. This video is targeted to blind users. What is AUTHOR PROFILING? What does AUTHOR PROFILING mean? AUTHOR PROFILING meaning - AUTHOR PROFILING definition - AUTHOR PROFILING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Author profiling is a method of analyzing a given number of texts to try to uncover various characteristics of the author (e.g. age and gender) based on stylistic- and content-based features. Automatic Authorship Identification (AAI) has existed for almost 120 years. Thomas Corwin Mendenhall was the first to examine works of Francis Bacon, William Shakespeare, and Christopher Marlowe aiming to detect quantitative stylistic differences using word length. Since then, things have changed rapidly due to the development of technology. There are three major fields in AAI: authorship attribution, author identification, and author profiling. In the first two, the goal is to recognize the author from a set of authors, while in author profiling, the goal is to find specific characteristics of the author, based on stylistic- or content-based features. The author profiling task is a yet unsolved problem, due to its difficulty. It has been studied by many researchers and, while some show great progress and good results, it still has many unexplored areas and room for improvement. Through the organizational efforts of PAN, many teams around the globe try every year to find the characteristics of authors. Characteristics vary between approaches, but age and gender are usually among them. Other personality traits have included the zodiac and the occupation of the author.

****Link in bio*** https://iai.tv/iai-academy/courses/info?course=what-philosophy-can-do Philosophy has always struggled with itself over what, exactly, it’s purpose is. Plato investigated the fundamental nature of justice and knowledge whereas Wittgenstein thought that the purpose of philosophy was "to show the fly the way out of the fly bottle." Where are we now? During this course Amie Thomasson traces historical views of the history of philosophy before presenting her radical new suggestion, that philosophy is all about meta-linguistic negotiation. This approach – the idea that our discussions about justice are about how we should use the word ‘justice’ – manages to unite the advantages of previous models whilst avoiding the problems. Philosophy has purpose once more, helping us in our everyday life as well as with the biggest issues. We are trying something new, so your feedback is certainly welcomed and wanted! In this episode, Chezz and I discuss a recent event that caught fire in the headlines. Perhaps you are aware, but if not, the website OptionSellers.com got extremely careless with their client’s money and ended up creating a massive… we’ll call it… “problem”… for those who trusted them. The entire topic created several rabbit holes of learning and consideration that I believe we can all benefit from. Whether that be for someone like myself where the lessons learned are a “reminder” or for new traders that may never have considered the discussion points we talk about. Bottom line, I believe this format has some potential in the future, so I hope you enjoy and get something from it. Like I said, your feedback would be much appreciated. https://claytrader.com/podcast/episode195

A computer can beat the world chess champion and understand voice commands on your smartphone, but real artificial intelligence has yet to arrive. The pace of change is quickening, though. Some people say it will save humanity, even make us immortal. Others say it could destroy us all. But, the truth is, most of us don't really know what AI is. Subscribe to our channel for more science and space stuff videos👍 ▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪ Follow us on Facebook : https://goo.gl/3uCit3 Follow me on Twitter : https://goo.gl/zVPgbn Follow me on Instagram : @siddhantjacobofficial. ▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪ Artificial intelligence is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think and learn. It is also a field of study which tries to make computers smart. John McCarthy came up with the name artificial intelligence in 1955. In general use, the term artificial intelligence means a machine which mimics human cognition. At least some of the things we associate with other minds, such as learning and problem solving can be done by computers, though not in the same way as we do. The field was founded on the claim that human intelligence "can be so precisely described that a machine can be made to simulate it". This raises philosophical arguments about the nature of the mind and the ethics of creating artificial beings endowed with human-like intelligence, issues which have been explored by myth, fiction and philosophy since antiquity. Some people also consider AI to be a danger to humanity if it progresses unabatedly. Others believe that AI, unlike previous technological revolutions, will create a risk of mass unemployment. An ideal (perfect) intelligent machine is a flexible agent which perceives its environment and takes actions to maximize its chance of success at some goal. As machines become increasingly capable, mental facilities once thought to require intelligence are removed from the definition. For example, optical character recognition is no longer perceived as an exemplar of "artificial intelligence": it is just a routine technology. At present we use the term AI for successfully understanding human speech, competing at a high level in strategic game systems (such as Chess and Go), self-driving cars, and interpreting complex data. Some people also consider AI a danger to humanity if it progresses unabatedly. An extreme goal of AI research is to create computer programs that can learn, solve problems, and think logically. In practice, however, most applications have picked on problems which computers can do well. Searching data bases and doing calculations are things computers do better than people. On the other hand, "perceiving its environment" in any real sense is way beyond present-day computing. AI involves many different fields like computer science, mathematics, linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy. Eventually researchers hope to create a "general artificial intelligence" which can solve many problems instead of focusing on just one. Researchers are also trying to create creative and emotional AI which can possibly empathize or create art. l u v t e a (acoustic revisit) by autumn keys https://soundcloud.com/autumnkeys Creative Commons — Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported — CC BY-SA 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... As US Army researcher believes that wars will be fought with human soldiers commanding a team of ‘physical and cyber robots’ to create a network of “Internet of Battle Things” in the future. “Internet of Intelligent Battle Things (IOBT) is the emerging reality of warfare,” as AI and machine learning advances Alexander Kott, chief of the Network Science Division of the US Army Research Laboratory. He envisions a future where physical robots are able to fly, crawl, walk, or ride into battle. The robots as small as insects can be used as sensors, and the ones as big as large vehicles can carry troops and supplies. There will also be “cyber robots”, basically autonomous programmes, used within computers and networks to protect communications, fact-check, relay information, and protect other electronic devices from enemy malware. “In order to be effective in performing these functions, battle things will have to collaborate with each other, and also with the human warfighters. This will require a significant degree of autonomous self-organization; and also of accepting a variety of relations between things and humans,” Kott said in a research paper, to be released in the proceedings of the Spring Symposiums of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). Kott’s ideas rest on the assumption that countries have obeyed a ban on autonomous weapons “beyond meaningful control”. So humans will still, ultimately, lead and make decisions on the battlefield, whilst IOBT devices will mainly act as aids. The plan also relies on AI and machine learning advancing to capabilities beyond what’s currently achievable now. Neural networks are good at learning patterns in data for tasks such as image recognition or language translation, and achieve high accuracy levels but it requires millions of training examples. No plan survives the first enemy contact The battlefield, however, is a volatile and dynamic environment. IOBT will have to adapt to changing tactics, and learn from a small number data samples that will be imperfect, unlabelled, and potentially even deceptive. Samples might be video footage or camera feeds showing the local environment for robots. Machine learning algorithms will have to determine what features are important to focus on. For example, piles of rubble are probably irrelevant, but such systems should be able to see if there was a wounded ally buried among the debris. Deep learning systems are often inefficient and rely on copious amounts of computing power to crunch through numbers. The hardware for IOBT will have to be small and light to fit into tiny sensors and robots and consume as little energy as possible. “One might suggest that a way to overcome such limitations on computing resources available directly on the battlefield is to offload the computations via wireless communications to a powerful computing resource located outside of the battlefield,” the paper said. "Unfortunately, it isn’t a vi

What does INPUT-OUTPUT MODEL mean? INPUT-OUTPUT MODEL meaning - INPUT-OUTPUT MODEL definition - INPUT-OUTPUT MODEL explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. In economics, an input–output model is a quantitative economic technique that represents the interdependencies between different branches of a national economy or different regional economies. The model depicts inter-industry relationships within an economy, showing how output from one industrial sector may become an input to another industrial sector. In the inter-industry matrix, column entries typically represent inputs to an industrial sector, while row entries represent outputs from a given sector. This format therefore shows how dependent each sector is on every other sector, both as a customer of outputs from other sectors and as a supplier of inputs. Each column of the input–output matrix shows the monetary value of inputs to each sector and each row represents the value of each sector's outputs. Wassily Leontief (1906–1999) is credited with developing this type of analysis and earned the Nobel Prize in Economics for his development of this model. Francois Quesnay had developed a cruder version of this technique called Tableau économique, and Léon Walras's work Elements of Pure Economics on general equilibrium theory also was a forerunner and generalization of Leontief's seminal concept. Alexander Bogdanov has been credited with originating the concept in a report delivered to the All Russia Conference on the Scientific Organisation of Labour and Production Processes, in January 1921. This approach was also developed by L. N. Kritsman and T. F. Remington has argued that their work provided a link between Quesnay's tableau économique and the subsequent contributions by Vladimir Groman and Vladimir Bazarov to Gosplan's method of material balance planning. Wassily Leontief's work in the input-output model was influenced by the works of the classical economists Karl Marx and Jean Charles Léonard de Sismondi. Karl Marx's economics provided an early outline involving a set of tables where the economy consisted of two interlinked departments. Leontief was the first to use a matrix representation of a national (or regional) economy. Because the input–output model is fundamentally linear in nature, it lends itself to rapid computation as well as flexibility in computing the effects of changes in demand. Input–output models for different regions can also be linked together to investigate the effects of inter-regional trade, and additional columns can be added to the table to perform environmentally extended input-output analysis (EEIOA). For example, information on fossil fuel inputs to each sector can be used to investigate flows of embodied carbon within and between different economies. The structure of the input–output model has been incorporated into national accounting in many developed countries, and as such can be used to calculate important measures such as national GDP. Input–output economics has been used to study regional economies within a nation, and as a tool for national and regional economic planning. A main use of input–output analysis is to measure the economic impacts of events as well as public investments or programs as shown by IMPLAN and Regional Input-Output Modeling System. It is also used to identify economically related industry clusters and also so-called "key" or "target" industries (industries that are most likely to enhance the internal coherence of a specified economy). By linking industrial output to satellite accounts articulating energy use, effluent production, space needs, and so on, input–output analysts have extended the approaches application to a wide variety of uses.

With the realisation that Cyber attacks present a significant risk to an organisation’s reputation, efficiency, and profitability, there has been an increase in the instrumentation of networks; from collecting netflow data at routers, to host-based agents collecting detailed process information. To spot the potential threats within a Cyber environment, a large community of researchers have produced many exciting innovations, aligned with such data. Much of this research has been focused around "data driven" techniques, and does not often fuse data from multiple sources. Moreover, incorporation of threat actors' behaviours and motivations (as specified by Cyber security experts) is often non-existent. In this talk, I will present an initial unified Bayesian model for Cyber security, which allows explicit incorporation of expert knowledge, and provides a natural probabilistic framework for the fusion of multiple data sources.
