North Carolina Gold and Gem Prospecting Thermal City Gold Mine

12:49
On this trip my wife and I travel to North Carolina to check out the landscape and do a little prospecting. We visited the Emerald Village Gem Mine, Lucky Strike Gold Mine, and Thermal City Gold Mine. Visit our website at www.HighPlainsProspectors.com for some great prospecting, valuable information, and metal detecting gear, monthly contests and give aways. She prospected for gems and found quite a few nice specimens. I panned for gold and together we found a fair amount of North Carolina Gold.
MINING FOR SAPPHIRES IN NORTH CAROLINA

14:50
We take you to a genuine sapphire mine near Franklin, NC where we meet with the caretaker and dig into the hillside searching for the elusive Sapphires. We had the entire mine to ourselves during our visit to Mason's Ruby & Sapphire Mine. Franklin, NC which is known for Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires and more. There are several mines where you can pay to dig but only a couple that have unsalted, native sapphire mines! Franklin, NC sits inside the Nantahala National Forest and just a short drive away you can see some spectacular waterfalls including filming locations for films such as The Last of the Mohicans. Special thanks to Judie for her hospitality on keeping the mine open with severe weather in the forecast. Check out Mason's Ruby & Sapphire Mine. Visit www.masonsmine.com for more information on their mine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/wanderingbuffalos?sub_confirmation=1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support Wandering Buffalos on Patreon!!! Grizzly Relic & Treasure- Button, Button, There is a hell of a lot of Buttons!

02:23
There was not a lot of hope that I would find much but this overturned burning barrel had some jars from the 70's flowing out of it. I searched the barrel and found that there was two broken jars of buttons intermixed between the refuse. So I sifted through it all and found each one. Buttons, religious medals, beads, keys but alas no coins. A farmstead's button jar is truly a treasure. Housewives would collect buttons and keepsakes and keep them in these jars for safe keeping when one would be needed. The same can be said for jars, buckets and drawers of nuts and bolts. You will really be surprised what can be found in Jars of buttons and bolts found in farmstead junk piles! Get Grizzly and act upon your Temerity in your very own Grizzly Backyard today! If your unable to get out, then subscribe and catch up as you join me on these Grizzly Adventures right here! This video was uploaded from an Android phone.

Gem Mountain megajug sort at home

04:04
A fairly low-quality phone film (sorry) about sorting our Megajug from Gem Mountain in Phillipsberg, MT. I'm not paid for this, in fact, I spent $141 to have the jug shipped. Lots of fun and I'd say it's worth the money! If you are wondering if it's worth the time and money this might help you decide. Getting the stones treated and cut will cost more, but will likely pay for itself or more when it comes back.

In Ashe County, in 1962 a company walked away from the Ore Knob mineral mine. That mine was the focus of criminal activity in the 1980's after two men from Buncombe County were murdered and their bodies dumped into the mine. Five thousand abandoned mines lay across the state, with 4,000 of them west of I-77 into the mountains.

Ora Watson (Watauga County, NC 1993)

06:36
Ora Watson (1911–2008) grew up in the Sugar Grove community of Watauga County, North Carolina. Her father, Arthur Isaacs, played old-time fiddle and banjo, and he was also a singer and dancer. Her mother, Mary Fletcher Isaacs, was a gospel singer in the church. By age eleven, Ora was adept on fiddle, and she and her sister and a cousin formed a band. Calling themselves the Isaacs Sisters, they played for parties, house dances, church socials, cakewalks, and fiddlers' conventions. Watson referred to her dancing as “buckdance” or “flatfooting,” but she also included Charleston steps that she learned in her youth. Active as a dancer and a musician throughout her life, she could still fiddle and dance at the same time, even at the age of eighty-two. Watson received the North Carolina Heritage Award in 1995. See: http://www.blueridgeheritage.com/traditional-artist-directory/ora-watson Music: Cecil Gurganus (fiddle), Mary Greene (guitar), Phil Jamison (banjo) Recorded: Valle Crucis, NC (May 10, 1993) For more about this Folklife Documentary Project, see “WNC Buckdancers, Flatfooters, and Charleston Dancers (1993)” at: http://www.philjamison.com/ Additional video with an extended interview and more dancing is available at the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina. Memory Collector

14:41
http://www.RealAvid.com http://www.Memory-Collector.com Real Avid’s award-winning “Memory Collector” 15 minute film captures the story of Tom “Crusty” Cruickshank’s annual 1,000 mile pilgrimage to hunt barren ground caribou on the North Slope of Alaska’s Brooks Range. ”Memory Collector” is the first in a series of Real Avid “For The Life” films featuring outdoorsmen who live and breathe the outdoor culture. The film was named a 2014 Official Top 10 Selection at the Sportsman’s Warehouse Outdoor Film Festival. Crusty moved to Alaska more than 20 years ago to fulfill childhood dreams. He proudly lives a life without regret. His outdoor adventures focus more on collecting memories than trophies or putting meat on the table. Crusty’s story is inspiring to those who’ve dreamt of pursuing their passions and living life on their own terms. The film concept was conceived when Co-producer Nick Grzechowiak met Crusty through social media. “Crusty had such a compelling story to tell. Like most boys, I had dreams of moving to Alaska and living off the land. And here’s Crusty who just jumped on a plane and did it,” explained Grzechowiak. “After each hunt Crusty begins planning and preparing his equipment for the next year. He’s the kind of guy who appreciates Real Avid’s mission specific tools and puts them to the test.” View the award-winning film at Memory-Collector.com. “Memory Collector” was produced by Hallowed Ground Outdoors in association with Risen Media and the EverFire Group. The team was comprised of Crusty Cruickshank, Howard Tripp, Joe Sir, Steve Pennaz, and Nick Grzechowiak. “We created some great memories during our time filming with Crusty and his friends,” said Howard Tripp, Executive Producer/Creative Director. “And you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful location than the North Slope.” About Real Avid Since 2009, Real Avid has created mission specific products for experienced hunters and shooters. Real Avid is the inventor of and world leader in gun specific multi-tools. Our innovative designs have also put lights in knife handles to make field dressing easier than ever. Real Avid hungers to be different, to go deeper and to invent new and smarter ways to solve problems for hunters and shooters. That’s our mission. We will know we’ve succeeded when we earn the right to be a partner with you on your missions. Visit www.RealAvid.com for more information and to see the full line of Real Avid products. About Sportsman’s Warehouse Outdoor Film Festival The Outdoor Film Festival began in 2012. Outdoor industry film producers submit their films and winners are awarded at the annual event. After the festival the Outdoor Film Festival award-winning films will tour across the United States and present at local chapters of conservation organizations with net proceeds benefiting the conservation foundation. The tour will also stop at retail locations. Check www.OutdoorFilmTour.com for locations and dates. The tour’s title sponsor is Sportsman’s Warehouse and is presented by the Boone & Crockett Club.

Mississippi Stomp Acoustic at Dick Cooper Party after WC Handy Music Festival 2018

18:46
Alabama Music Office.com goes to Shoals Creek, near Florence, Alabama to attend a special acoustic performance by four of Mississippi Stomp at Dick Cooper Party after WC Handy Music Festival 2018. Mississippi Stomp, named after our native state and the stomp box, is influenced by the music that has been created in many small places that we call home. Places such as the Piney Woods, to the Flatlands, from the Hill Country, to the Muddy Waters, to the Appalachian Foothills, the Black Prairie and the Coast. These small places of hard work in the smoldering heat of summer and fall harvest would spawn music from many all time greats. Many of these greats in conjunction with a mishmash of our own musical family heritages would influence our writing, our music, and our sound, from the old, to the new, metamorphosing the band, Mississippi Stomp. Kick back, relax and lend us your ears! video by Jerry W. Henry

Copyright protection secures a person's right to his or her first-to-invent claim of the original invention in question, highlighted in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution which gives the following enumerated power to the United States Congress: In 1641, the first patent in North America was issued to Samuel Winslow by the General Court of Massachusetts for a new method of making salt. On April 10, 1790, President George Washington signed the Patent Act of 1790 (1 Stat. 109) into law which proclaimed that patents were to be authorized for "any useful art, manufacture, engine, machine, or device, or any improvement therein not before known or used." On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins of Pittsford, Vermont became the first person in the United States to file and to be granted a patent for an improved method of "Making Pot and Pearl Ashes." The Patent Act of 1836 (Ch. 357, 5 Stat. 117) further clarified United States patent law to the extent of establishing a patent office where patent applications are filed, processed, and granted, contingent upon the language and scope of the claimant's invention, for a patent term of 14 years with an extension of up to an additional 7 years. However, the Uruguay Round Agreements Act of 1994 (URAA) changed the patent term in the United States to a total of 20 years, effective for patent applications filed on or after June 8, 1995, thus bringing United States patent law further into conformity with international patent law. The modern-day provisions of the law applied to inventions are laid out in Title 35 of the United States Code (Ch. 950, sec. 1, 66 Stat. 792). From 1836 to 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a total of 7,861,317 patents relating to several well-known inventions appearing throughout the timeline below. Some examples of patented inventions between the years 1946 and 1991 include William Shockley's transistor (1947), John Blankenbaker's personal computer (1971), Vinton Cerf's and Robert Kahn's Internet protocol/TCP (1973), and Martin Cooper's mobile phone (1973).

The Confederacy was originally formed by seven secessionist slave-holding states—South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas—in the Lower South region of the United States, whose economy was heavily dependent upon agriculture, particularly cotton, and a plantation system that relied upon the labor of African-American slaves. Each state declared its secession from the United States, which became known as the Union during the ensuing civil war, following the November 1860 election of Republican candidate Abraham Lincoln to the U.S. presidency on a platform which opposed the expansion of slavery into the western territories. Before Lincoln took office in March, a new Confederate government was established in February 1861, which was considered illegal by the government of the United States. States volunteered militia units and the new government hastened to form its own Confederate States Army from scratch practically overnight. After the American Civil War began in April, four slave states of the Upper South—Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina—also declared their secession and joined the Confederacy. The Confederacy later accepted Missouri and Kentucky as members, although neither officially declared secession nor were they ever largely controlled by Confederate forces; Confederate shadow governments attempted to control the two states but were later exiled from them. The government of the United States (the Union) rejected the claims of secession and considered the Confederacy illegally founded. The War began with the Confederate attack upon Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861, a Union fort in the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina. No foreign government officially recognized the Confederacy as an independent country, although Great Britain and France granted it belligerent status, which allowed Confederate agents to contract with private concerns for arms and other supplies. In early 1865, after four years of heavy fighting which led to 620,000–850,000 military deaths, all the Confederate forces surrendered and the Confederacy vanished. The war lacked a formal end; nearly all Confederate forces had been forced into surrender or deliberately disbanded by the end of 1865, by which point the dwindling manpower and resources of the Confederacy were facing overwhelming odds. By 1865, Jefferson Davis lamented that the Confederacy had "disappeared".
