Multidimensional Data Exploration with Glue; SciPy 2013 Presentation

20:43
Authors: Beaumont, Christopher, U. Hawaii; Robitaille, Thomas, MPIA; Borkin, Michelle, Harvard; Goodman, Alys Track: General Modern research projects incorporate data from several sources, and new insights are increasingly driven by the ability to interpret data in the context of other data. Glue (http://glueviz.org) is a graphical environment built on top of the standard Python science stack to visualize relationships within and between data sets. With Glue, users can load and visualize multiple related data sets simultaneously. Users specify the logical connections that exist between data, and Glue transparently uses this information as needed to enable visualization across files. This functionality makes it trivial, for example, to interactively overplot catalogs on top of images. The central philosophy behind Glue is that the structure of research data is highly customized and problem-specific. Glue aims to accomodate and to simplify the "data munging" process, so that researchers can more naturally explore what their data has to say. The result is a cleaner scientific workflow, and more rapid interaction with data.

Support Vector Machine (SVM) - Fun and Easy Machine Learning

Support Vector Machine (SVM) - Fun and Easy Machine Learning ►FREE YOLO GIFT - http://augmentedstartups.info/yolofreegiftsp ►KERAS COURSE - https://www.udemy.com/machine-learning-fun-and-easy-using-python-and-keras/?couponCode=YOUTUBE_ML ►MACHINE LEARNING COURSES -http://augmentedstartups.info/machine-learning-courses ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A Support Vector Machine (SVM) is a discriminative classifier formally defined by a separating hyperplane. In other words, given labeled training data (supervised learning), the algorithm outputs an optimal hyperplane which categorizes new examples. To understand SVM’s a bit better, Lets first take a look at why they are called support vector machines. So say we got some sample data over here of features that classify whether a observed picture is a dog or a cat, so we can for example look at snout length or and ear geometry if we assume that dogs generally have longer snouts and cat have much more pointy ear shapes. So how do we decide where to draw our decision boundary? Well we can draw it over here or here or like this. Any of these would be fine, but what would be the best? If we do not have the optimal decision boundary we could incorrectly mis-classify a dog with a cat. So if we draw an arbitrary separation line and we use intuition to draw it somewhere between this data point for the dog class and this data point of the cat class. These points are known as support Vectors – Which are defined as data points that the margin pushes up against or points that are closest to the opposing class. So the algorithm basically implies that only support vector are important whereas other training examples are ‘ignorable’. An example of this is so that if you have our case of a dog that looks like a cat or cat that is groomed like a dog, we want our classifier to look at these extremes and set our margins based on these support vectors. ------------------------------------------------------------ Support us on Patreon ►AugmentedStartups.info/Patreon Chat to us on Discord ►AugmentedStartups.info/discord Interact with us on Facebook ►AugmentedStartups.info/Facebook Check my latest work on Instagram ►AugmentedStartups.info/instagram Learn Advanced Tutorials on Udemy ►AugmentedStartups.info/udemy ------------------------------------------------------------ To learn more on Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality IoT, Deep Learning FPGAs, Arduinos, PCB Design and Image Processing then check out http://augmentedstartups.info/home Please Like and Subscribe for more videos :)

Introduction to Data Cubes

07:59
This video gives an introduction to basic ETL using data cubes. You will learn how to perform joins across data sources and the overall concept behind a data cube.
Analysis Services - 08 Dimension Storage

09:37
Now here is the rub when it comes to aggregated data. A cube stores aggregated data based on the hierarchies in our dimensions. So depending on how many dimensions and how many measures we have we can start getting quite a big cube on the hard disk and memory. So just how far should we be going with the storage. i.e. how much should be physically stored agregations on the disk versus calculated on the fly? What is Dimension Storage ? Dimension Storage is the means to instruct Analysis Services how to store the information on the cube. Also it controls how the dimension is going to work on the actual data. This needs clearer definition as it is a two for one, physical storage capability and frequency of update. This is where the terms ROLAP & MOLAP come in. ROLAP - Realtime OLAP - This means that the data is coming from a system that is constantly changing. So examples of where you would use ROLAP are when refering to volotile data such as stock market where information may need to be updated on the fly. You done want to instruct Analysis Services to be constantly updating aggreations. So ROLAP is generally slow as it is (depending on setting) constantly looking for changes. MOLAP - Multidimensional OLAP - This means the data is more static and is updated at set intervals. This is the most common approach to cube building as people want to see what was done up to close of business yesterday. This is another setting called HOLAP but this is discussed later on the Cube itself. The final thing to stress is the aggreagtions are stored in the Cube NOT in the dimension, we need to define the dimension storage as this alters the way the cube reacts. The best example to bring up is the Measure group of sales which is on ROLAP information is constantly being added to the cube realtime. Now one of the sales lines introduces a new customer which is not in the cube when the cube processes it will error becuase teh customer dimension is processed once a day and does not have this customer. So you would have to change the Dimension Storage method from MOLAP to ROLAP on the Customer to allow for correct processing. Now sticking with this example what about the date dimension, for Dimension Storage would it use ROLAP or MOLAP? the answer would be MOLAP because your date dimension is non volatile and generally will cover not only dates in the past but also the future (typical date dimesnions would have date going up to at least the year 2050).
