Fast Way to Create Polygon Hair for Character in Maya

This tutorial shows how you can create fast way 3d polygon hair for a character's head. I'm not recorded the full work process, just I focused to paint random alpha hair planes. I used spPaint3d script in Maya to paint the hair planes quickly. Of course for best result need some manual fine touch. Other important things: You should check the brush geometry: set pivot and freeze transformation. If you choose the "place" paint option you can rotate the mesh with SHIFT key. In the options menu you can set the "Place rotate increment" value to determine the rotate angle. You can increase the random painting by set the rotate and scale attribute range. QuickEdit: Edit any mesh, right from Unity 3D!

www.sixbysevenstudio.com QuickEdit allows you to edit any mesh (and it's UVs!) right within Unity 3D. This is an amazingly useful tool, and has greatly improved my workflow, as it will for you! Better yet, QuickEdit adds full "instancing" support to your meshes. This means you can edit the mesh once, and all other objects sharing the same mesh will update to match, in real time. Alternatively, you can edit the mesh as a copy, and it won't change any others. Say you want to make several slightly different versions of a building, weapon, or character- QuickEdit lets you do this in seconds, and doesn't clutter up your project folder. QuickEdit is also great for modifying mesh objects to fit just right. Boulders, trees, architectural details, walls, debris- not only can you make them all fit just right, you can add tons of diversity to your gameworld, with minimal effort. Are you using a model that came in a proprietary format (max, blender, maya, etc), and don't have the modeling program? Or maybe you aren't familiar with the program, and don't want to waste time with trial and error. With QuickEdit, just select the mesh, click, "Edit", and use Unity's own familiar tools and methods to modify the mesh however you like. Maybe, you want to see how a model would look with a slight change, but don't want to waste time bouncing between programs, importing and exporting, re-building prefabs/materials/etc. QuickEdit makes it beautifully simple to try on new looks.

DET 320 - Rendering with Smooth Mesh Preview - Advanced 3D Modeling with Maya 2016 In this week's episode: Sometimes we hit that cool little #3 on our keyboard in Maya and start modeling with Smooth Mesh Preview turned ON. But unless we actually smooth the model, it's actual jagged and blocky self can pop out at render time or other inopportune moments. So, in this quick video, we look at a simple render setting to keep our fake smoothness flowing all the way into our rendered images or videos. Smooth, man. Real smooth. It's now possible to enforce topologically symmetrical results when retopologizing meshes. Symmetry can be based on the source topology—enabling meshes to retain both topological symmetry and spatial asymmetry (for example, a face with a lop-sided grin)—or on a local or world axis, for completely symmetrical results; artists can choose whether to copy painting and sculpting detail from one or both sides of the source. Existing meshes can also be quickly made symmetrical across one or more axes without retopologizing, with a new Make Symmetrical tool—this is particularly useful for models scanned from real-world objects, which often appear symmetrical but are not. Topologically symmetrical meshes are essential for sculpting and painting with tangent symmetry, and for other processes throughout the production pipeline

Better STL to BRep Conversion in Fusion 360

There is a better way to import STL models into Fusion 360 than the "Mesh to BRep" tool. 1. Convert STL into OBJ with quads (using ReCap Photo) 2. Import OBJ with quads into Fusion 360 3. Disable design history (which is the only way to get Sculpt mode) 4. Sculpt → Utilities → Convert → Quad mesh to T-splines 5. Sculpt → Utilities → Convert → T-splines to BRep 6. Re-enable design history Switch Pro Controller Stand on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3030629 It looks like the original 3D scan of the controller is no longer available on Thingiverse for whatever reason.
