Just so you know, at 5:03, it's simply a Voronoi diagram.
Denis Keman (3 months ago)
+Herman Gerard I actually saw a great implementation of Voronoi to create parametric wheel rims. It was a pretty amazing end result
Herman Gerard (3 months ago)
+Denis Keman Definitely ! But don't overuse it ha ha ! Grasshopper in Rhino has an alert when you use Voronoi too much. It basically says that people overusing it have a creativity problem ha ha
Denis Keman (3 months ago)
Yeah i actually learned more about Voronoi a few weeks ago. The actual math behind it is great as it can be used to create a wide variety of things, especially for parametric models

can we use opacity maps for last second and third wall pannels ?
Denis Keman (1 year ago)
If you bake them onto a plane you can use an opacity map to get that effect
ladapanda (1 year ago)
Thanks so much! you are awesome!

you don't have to draw all the outline through 3ds max. first you input the image that you want to Photoshop and make it black and white. and also big contrast. save the image and open it on AI. and use the AI trace button get the outline and save as dwg. and you can open it in 3ds.

Arojit Bag (2 years ago)
i do use 3ds max 2012 '2014' 2015...u see at 5 minit when u do convert to edit poly,,then all modifiers shortcurt at the top of ur viewport..how does u do that?
Denis Keman (2 years ago)
i really can't understand what you are asking me here
Arojit Bag (2 years ago)
how did u bring the modeling panels all together showing up the viwport...i saw when u convert to edit poly those modifiers fully strecched on viewport ..but when i did i dnt find them at all in 3ds max ??
Denis Keman (2 years ago)
Which minute of the video is that .. and what version of 3ds Max do you use
김은지 (2 years ago)
i wonder if maya has the same tool

how did you delete the faces in one click for the first two shapes cuz when I tried to delete it the whole plane was deleted , so I had to remove the faces every one individually
Denis Keman (2 years ago)
ctlr+backspace does wonders :)
Tarek El-Seedy (2 years ago)
thanx .. can u tell us about the curved openings
Tarek El-Seedy (2 years ago)
+Denis Keman like rectangle window with half circle on the top, sometimes i need to cover this window with GRC material in the external side so it take the same shape of the window opening (Arc window)
Denis Keman (2 years ago)
What curved openings ?

David Tau (2 years ago)
awesome.. how about colored glass panels?
Denis Keman (2 years ago)
Apply a UVW unwrap on the glass and then add a texture to it that would have the diffuse of whatever color you would like to have on your colored glass.
alex joebreaker (2 years ago)
super! thanx!
Fatima Hamzeh (2 years ago)
I don't have the 2nd toolbars(poly modeling...) please where can i find it ??
thanks
Davide Visentini (2 years ago)
about 4th exemple I think there s an easier way: convert the image in illustrator or similar and import as dwg file.
System Shock Studios (2 years ago)
could take it into Photoshop and gone around it to make the design then turn that into a simple 3d object in Photoshop then export that as an object.
AnarchoArchitect (2 years ago)
That works but if the pattern is complicated it's likely that 3DS Max will crash when you turn it into an editable poly. I used my cad line work to create a high-res image of the panel and used a transparency map to create negative space. This wouldn't work for up close, but there is nothing easier for wide shots.
Denis Keman (2 years ago)
Ah there it is .. i suck at AI so i wouldn't know that :) In any case thanks for sharing that bit of info
ABDELMOUMENE ALLOUCHE (2 years ago)
good .thanks i am very interested
Mounir Foudi (2 years ago)
Exelelent, thanks for you
thank you denis
Calin Petrescu (2 years ago)
instead of tracing the complex shape you could put it in photoshop, turn the contrast up and use the image as a displacement map, deleting the exccess geometry and done
Mohamad Ali Khurdaji (2 years ago)
you are awesome !!! looking up for more professional videos

Jane Tran (3 years ago)
I have another question, I'm trying to make a building facade that is similar to the pattern you made in 27:00. I'd like to insert variable panels (eg. transparent, solid, color variation) within the openings. Do you have any tips on what would be the best way to approach this?
Jane Tran (3 years ago)
+Denis Keman thanks! I will try that
Denis Keman (3 years ago)
+Jane Tran Select the polygons from the wall on the left side .. inset them for a small amount and then detach it as a clone. Move the clone into position and use it as a glass. Word of advice though, since glass has thickness add a shell modifier to the panels before you call it finished. Happy modeling.
Jane Tran (3 years ago)
At 6:18, How did you delete all the center pieces?
Denis Keman (3 years ago)
+Jane Tran If you did the inset then it shouldn't delete everything. Basically you have two ways of deleting stuff in max, first one is by pressing Delete which does just that, and the second one is ctrl+backspace which removes
Jane Tran (3 years ago)
+Denis Keman lol. I did that and it deleted everything
Denis Keman (3 years ago)
+Jane Tran I press Delete on the keyboard :)

+goddessLAKSZMI Gotta say it as it is :)
goddessLAKSZMI (3 years ago)
10:25 - you used 'scale', then 'move' modifier with Shift on?
Denis Keman (3 years ago)
+goddessLAKSZMI Exactly. While holding Shift and dragging you extrude new edges
ToxicSludge (3 years ago)
Great stuff, thanks mate :)
Moghrabi FL’Usa (3 years ago)
All right thanks again i use max 2009 2012 and also 2014 if needed
Moghrabi FL’Usa (3 years ago)
Ok thanks for the answer. It's clear you work with max 2014 and up
Denis Keman (3 years ago)
+Mustapha Lahmidi Well actually i have Max 2010-2015 ( still don't have 2016) but that's besides the point. The modelling ribbon is present in all the versions of Max that are 2010 and older.
Moghrabi FL’Usa (3 years ago)
is that a script you use in begenning?? the topolgy
Denis Keman (3 years ago)
+Mustapha Lahmidi You can literally see me open the tab and click on the Generate Topology button at 4:18. And no it's not a script, it's a Max built in option.
